The LA Rams were trolled by Arizona Cardinals defensive linemen J.J. Watt and Chandler Jones after defeating the LA Rams in Week 4 of the 2021 NFL season. Of course, veteran offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth took notes and saved his comments through the entire season until the two teams met again in the Wildcard Round of the NFL Playoffs. In that contest, the Rams decimated the Cardinals by a score of 34-11. And then, Andrew Whitworth responded:

It happened in Hollywood… but this time, he included some commentary.

"It was all a dream!Good night! It’s bed time! 👋🏼😤😤😤😤Great Team W!Moving on! – per Andrew Whitworth’s Instagram account"

But there is more to this story.

With the 55th pick of the 2006 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth from LSU. And with that selection, the wheels began to turn, proceedings began to transpire. 16 years later, events have come full circle. The team that started it all for the NFL career of Andrew Whitworth will now be the team that opposes him in what may be the final game of his NFL career in Super Bowl LVI.

The perfect ending to a perfect NFL career

If you had your choice as to how to throw yourself a retirement party, wouldn’t you want to include those who were with you as the sun rose on your career, as well as those who shared the final years of a long and prosperous career? Would you want it to occur at the apex of your professional career?

This could be the final game for the LA Rams blind side offensive tackle, Andrew Whitworth. The team entered the season knowing that Whitworth had vowed to play until he was 40. That milestone happened earlier this year. Now, the 6-foot-7 330-pound offensive lineman faces his own retirement decision on the heels of the retirement of Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady.

Whitworth is extremely vigilant about what he does with his body, and what he puts into it. But even Father Time has limits. After missing seven games in 2020 due to an MCL injury, Whitworth has suffered a series of minor injuries this year that have benched him for his backup, Joe Noteboom.

If the LA Rams win Super Bowl LVI, the finale is a perfect setting for ‘Big Whit’ to exit the NFL on top. Will the Rams win? Will the outcome of the game affect the decision that awaits the LA Rams and Andrew Whitworth? This is a very difficult and personal decision, and Andrew Whitworth has earned the right to make the call on his own good time.

But it’s hard to deny that hoisting the Lombardi Trophy after defeating his former team would be one helluva way to finish up his NFL scrapbook. If this is indeed the last game played by Andrew Whitworth, the title It happened in Hollywood seems fitting. After all, the game will be played just down the street from Tinsletown. And who is kidding who? A Super Bowl ring beats the snot out of a gold pocket watch for a retirement present.
