Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers has made an improbable comeback to return from a torn Achilles in time for his team’s Super Bowl run. Akers is operating like the team’s featured RB, though his production has lacked in his first few games back on the field.
Akers has also benefited from Darrell Henderson Jr. being out due to injury. However, Henderson is expected to return for Super Bowl LVI and head coach Sean McVay has teased a “three-back rotation” on Sunday.
This development makes Akers’ rushing yards prop a perfect target for bettors.
Cam Akers Prop Bet
Akers’ rushing yards prop sits at 63.5 on WynnBET, with -115 odds on both the over and under. Though the odds are currently locked, it’s worth bookmarking this bet and backing the under if it remains above 60 yards.
Right now, Akers hasn’t shown he can dominate on the ground like his pre-injury form. He’s rushed for 55 and 48 (x2) yards during the postseason despite leading the team in carries in all three games.
Akers handled 17 carries in the Wild Card Round and recorded 55 yards, but Sony Michel needed just 13 carries to rush for 58 yards, including a long of 35.
Akers’ lack of explosion post-injury is showcased by a long of just 15 yards in the postseason so far.
Not only does Akers have to compete with Michel — who helped get the Rams to the playoffs in the first place with 845 yards and 4 TDs in the regular season — but Henderson, too. The latter operated as LA’s initial starting back with Akers out, and he was averaging 15 carries a game over the first eight contests before injuries slowed him down.
Now that Henderson appears to be fully recovered from his nagging MCL sprain, he presents a legit threat to Akers’ rushing work. McVay’s comments heading into Sunday’s game suggest any one of the Akers-Henderson-Michel trio could be the featured back against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Rams head coach Sean McVay in today's pool report on RB Darrell Henderson, Jr. (knee): "I think Darrell's going to go. So, you'll have Cam (Akers), Darrell and Sony (Michel). You'll be able to see a good, three-back rotation, based on how the game unfolds."

Then there’s the fact that Cincinnati surrendered the fifth-fewest rushing yards per game during the regular season. It could be hard for any of the three Rams backs to get into a rhythm if they’re constantly being rotated in and out against this imposing defense.
Cam Akers Super Bowl Prop
Akers has failed to crack even 60 yards during the playoffs. With in-house competition and a tough matchup to boot, the under looks like an appetizing prop to hammer.
