The LA Rams have built a roster for the 2021 NFL season in a way that no other team has attempted before.  In the process, the Rams organization placed a lot of trust in themselves, and in the players who were handpicked to join this organization, to fulfill the promises of players’ potential. The LA Rams have overcome doubters, haters, injuries, COVID-19, and even adversity.

Somehow, the organization was social media shamed for taking risks, for putting more into the effort to win a Super Bowl while the window remained open than other teams had in the past. NFL Draft picks do not win games, players do. The challenge then is not in spending picks for players. That happens organically in each and every annual NFL Draft.

The real challenge is trusting the analysis, the data, even the gut instincts to know more closely than anyone else with a hot mike and a video camera rolling footage that this player can be a game-changer for the LA Rams roster. Even now, the lovefest that has openly embraced that Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI is as much about defying the truth as it is about cheering for the underdog.

Rams defy simple NFL logic

The LA Rams have risen through the cinderella narratives of the NFL. Now, this team is suddenly and irrevocably part of the have’s in the NFL aristocracy. The LA Rams, through the use of uniquely constructed trades and creative contract writing, have been able to assemble a roster that has a bevy of name-recognized stars.

For whatever reason, over the course of their careers, they’ve been deemed expendable by their former team. Whether they simply did not fit the ‘time to rebuild’ strategy, were too unhappy with losing, were too past their prime to fiddle with, or simply wanted the organization to act to make measurable improvements to the roster, they were all dealt or released, only to find their way to this LA Rams roster.
