After the LA Rams defense held the Cincinnati Bengals to turn over the ball on downs. When the LA Rams offense took the football field, they had a first and ten from the 50-yard line. With a scoreless game, the LA Rams needed to dial-up some offense. So how did the playbook get it done?

After a Cam Akers run was stuffed for a one-yard loss, the Rams got positive yards from a Matthew Stafford seven-yard scramble. On third down, Stafford connected on a 20-yard completion to Cooper Kupp to give the Rams a first down on the Bengals 24-yard line. The Rams ran Darrell Henderson Jr. off the left end for four yards. Stafford connected to Henderson on a short three-yard pass on second down.

On the very next play, Stafford dropped back and connected on a beautiful pass play to Odell Beckham Jr. for a 13-yard touchdown pass.

Opening the game with a touchdown is a very good sign for the LA Rams. Keep in mind that the Bengals’ defense preys on mistakes, and the LA Rams typically make their mistakes early in the game.

This game is not the blowout that the Rams fans may have hoped for. But the Rams are still in the lead with 5:47 remaining in the second half and the Rams will get the football.
