There are few surprises left in the NFL. But LA Rams head coach Sean McVay left speechless when posed a question about this team is certainly one of them. McVay is one of those persons whose mind races while those of others stroll or jog. He is blessed with the ability to instantly diagnose, categorize, and order his thought in such a way that he can batch speak a narrative in a few minutes, which could take others several hours.

But that was not the case after winning Super Bowl LVI. He runs out of words at the 1:40 mark in the video below. Not out of nothing to say, but at a moment that even he could not keep pace with all of the thoughts and emotions that flooded his mind.

Keep in mind that it was the LA Rams head coach who was the engine of change and action this year. He was the architect of the trade that sent quarterback Jared Goff, a 2021 third-round, a 2022 first-round, and a 2023 first-round pick to the Detroit Lions for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. It was McVay who saw a chance to upgrade the team’s offense and lept at it without a safety net.

McVay: Head coach, riverboat gambler, future GM?

McVay gambled his reputation and won the ultimate prize, the NFL Championship. Not only is he one helluva coach, but he has some chops for NFL general manager someday. And you will never find me playing poker at the same table where he is wagering.

Of course, there is a bit of luck and randomness to any Super Bowl victor. But in the process of celebration, there is undeniable proof now that this does not happen if LA Rams head coach Sean McVay does not personally lobby team owner Stan Kroenke to authorize upping the ante to ensure that this team successfully trades for Stafford.

Even now, the LA Rams front office is planning for their primary, secondary, and contingency options to restock this roster for another run. This time, it will be for Super Bowl LVII. But, for now, there is still time to savor the flavor of this victory. And if Sean McVay is at a loss for words, you know it’s a pretty significant moment.
