One of the favorites to win Super Bowl LVII

The LA Rams’ current cap situation means they may need to rework some contracts if they are to extend any of their projected free agents. That is certainly something they’ve done before, and may involve a concerted effort with several key contracts to free up enough salary-cap space.  They’ve done that before, and the team has emerged stronger as a result.

Thankfully, the team’s core group includes QB Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp, all of whom will remain under contract for 2022. Having them all come back is critical. And beyond the key names and players, per Spotrac.com, these Rams are projected to have 48 players return under contract for next season. That number will increase as the team signs practice squad players to reserve/future contracts.

Back for more? Sure!

The retention of several key players and head coach Sean McVay helps ensure the Rams’ position as one of the NFC’s favorites to repeat next season. The Rams are even opening as one of the early favorites to win the 2022-23 NFL Championship (+1200). Only the Buffalo Bills (+700) and the Kansas City Chiefs (+700) have better odds of doing so.

While being in the best position and having the best odds to win a Super Bowl does not guarantee a victory, it does suggest that the smart money is coming around to the fact that the LA Rams, as unorthodox of a roster-building process that exists in the NFL, may just be onto something.

Two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl win in four years is already a strong foundation for a dynasty, but adding a third Super Bowl appearance and a second Super Bowl win cements the dynasty. Particularly if that occurs in consecutive years.
