Joshua “Josh” Ross was a vital part of a Michigan defense that made it to the College Football Playoff in 2021. That playoff run did not end ideally for the Wolverine linebacker, but that was not entirely his fault.

Ross brings a few key traits that give him a chance to be successful in the NFL, but the main benefit he provides to the LA Rams is a sound football mind that can fit with the LA Rams’ gameplans.

Instincts and awareness are valuable traits for an inside linebacker on the LA Rams because the LA Rams boast run stuffers and pass rushers that can handle most of the game-wrecking plays for the defense.

Josh Ross is coming from a 4-3 defense at Michigan, but he spent his time playing in the middle of Michigan’s 4-3 front. He made need some time to adjust to being a 3-4 inside linebacker, but almost all of his skill set will easily translate into a 3-4 defensive formation.

The part that makes Josh Ross a player to watch at the NFL Scouting Combine is his physical traits are something that some scouts consider a weakness of his. If Ross tests better physically than he appears, he could begin rising draft boards.

Perhaps more importantly for Josh Ross, he needs to test well at the NFL Scouting Combine to help his chances before Michigan’s pro day. With Michigan looking to send some high-quality players to the NFL this year, Ross needs a standout performance.

The interview portion of the Combine will help him raise his stock a bit, but Ross’s physical workout will be must-watch TV, one way or another.
