Here are 5 LA Rams LB prospects to track at the NFL Scouting Combine

An NFL Draft prospect that seems to be forgotten by many, Colorado’s Nate Landman has a skill set that could prove helpful for the LA Rams in 2022. Landman excels at stopping people, as in he is one the best defensive stoppers in college football.

For a player to achieve that many defensive stops, longevity plays a significant role, so many elite college linebackers do not reach that level of stops because they enter the draft early. Still, a player must also have the talent to accomplish it.

Being a great run defender is enough to get a player chosen in the NFL Draft, but the NFL Scouting Combine presents an opportunity for Landman to show he is more. His performance in drills could sell teams on him as a complete linebacker rather than a specialist.

Even if he proves only to be a specialist in run defense, the LA Rams can use him in that role early in his career. With two inside linebackers on the roster, adding a specialist who can excel in a function is still beneficial.

The LA Rams will need to convert him from a middle linebacker in a 4-3 defense to an inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, but almost all of the LA Rams linebacker options will require some converting.

Bringing a middle linebacker mentality to the LA Rams defense helps the LA Rams solve the issue of Eric Weddle retiring after being the signal-caller in the Super Bowl. The fact that Weddle had to call the defense says something about the linebacker situation.

Forcing these linebackers to call the LA Rams’ defense in his rookie season would be extreme, but the ability to play an extra part in the LA Rams’ future adds value to him. The NFL Scouting Combine is a place where teams also test a player’s mental side.

Given the lack of coverage on Nate Landman leading into the NFL Scouting Combine, everything he does during the event will be must-watch, as it could all come together to make him an absolute gem of a prospect.
