Will he or won’t he? The question hanging on the lips and keystrokes of the LA Rams fanbase has been oscillating at a frantic pace. Of course, the ‘he’ in that question is veteran outside linebacker Von Miller. The will or won’t question is about whether or not he will choose to re-sign with the LA Rams.

The reality of the 2021 NFL season is, like it or not, the appearance of OLB Von Miller amidst the Rams defense leveled it up. The veteran did more than just play. He committed to winning a Super Bowl pretty early in his time with the team. He showed teammates how to play on the football field. And he encouraged others on the team to become leaders.

There is only so much that the Rams coaches can scribe on the whiteboard. There are only so many blockers that defensive lineman Aaron Donald can get past. Someone else needed to step up for the Rams. More often than not, that player was Von Miller.

Ebb and Flow of Von Miller

The LA Rams front office brought OLB Von Miller to the team to do exactly what he did, to get the team over the hump and win a Super Bowl. Now, having enjoyed the success with his LA Rams teammates, he faces NFL Free Agency for the first time in his NFL career. Right now, there are several NFL teams who are eager to sign up the veteran. But it’s a two-way street, and that means that Miller calls the shots.

The only trouble is, his social media oscillates between the LA Rams and the Denver Broncos. Most recently, his social media accounts have leaned heavily towards the Broncos. But today, the tone has shifted again, thanks to NFL Sports analyst Josina Anderson. It seems that he is now rumored to be leaning heavily into coming back to the LA Rams, doesn’t it?

Of course, it is vital to rank the comment chronologically, because Miller was also quoted as saying he wanted to explore his options in free agency. So if that was made after this statement, the LA Rams appear to be losing ground. But if he made the above statement after professing interest in free agency, then the Rams appear to be making headway. So which way is he leaning?

.

But on his Instagram account, Von Miller posted a picture of meeting Russell Wilson, a quarterback that the Denver Broncos just traded for.

So after all of today’s news, where are we really? Are the LA Rams any closer? Or have the Denver Broncos truly captured Von Miller’s interest to return to the team?

LA Rams are defending NFL Champions

Those who fail to understand history will be doomed to repeat it. Von Miller played for the Denver Broncos, suffered an injury, and the Broncos traded him. He arrived at the LA Rams, recaptured his love of the game, reclaimed 2016 Super Bowl form, and helped the Rams to win Super Bowl LVI.  So now there is a path.

Go back to the Broncos, return to a fan base that loves him but a team that no longer trusts his play, and spend the remaining years of his NFL career trying to recapture the magic that is no longer there. Or he can choose to return to the LA Rams, a fan base that loves and respects him and keep the magic he has rediscovered with the Rams defense, and among his teammates.

It comes down to one point above all others. The LA Rams traded two picks for Von Miller because they still believe in Von Miller. The Denver Broncos traded Von Miller and even paid $9 million of his salary to play for the LA Rams because they no longer believed in him. I know what my choice would be. In fact, from my perspective, there is really no choice at all.

Let’s end this on a positive note, shall we? NFL Analyst Benjamin Allbright calls it as he sees it. When asked his assessment of Von Miller returning to the Denver Broncos, he had this to say:

Von Miller loves to play on social media. But in the end, I think he understands where he is more respected, and where he belongs. To achieve greatness, you must surround yourself with greatness. That’s the LA Rams, the defending NFL Champions.
