LA Rams FA Austin Corbett to Panthers should net 5th-round comp pick

Corbett outplayed the LA Rams budget
LA Rams free agency began on March 14, 2022. It is the day when teams and free agents, or their representatives, could hammer out the contractual terms that both sides were in agreement with. Terms to a contract that would place that player on the roster of that team.
But earlier in the day, Ramblin Fan contributor Tareq Rafiq wrote an article where he reported that he had a post-session conversation between himself and LA Rams COO Kevin Demoff that took place during the Sloan Sports Analytics conference recently. In that discussion, he was informed that the Rams were likely to lose veteran FA Austin Corbett. Well, Tareq nailed it, as hours later this news broke regarding the future of the former LA Rams right guard.
Austin Corbett paid more than the LA Rams could afford
The NFL Free Agency market price for any individual player is influenced by a number of things. What was the compensation of other players at that position. How much is the team willing to spend on a player at that position. What is the perceived ranking of that player among other available players at that position. Will the draft class have many or few alternative options for someone to compete at that position?
The Carolina Panthers have reached an agreement with OG Austin Corbett on a three-year deal that is worth $29.25 million. Now, as you read the news from NFL analyst Mike Garafolo, I’ll set up that second strategy.
And with that move, the LA Rams have lost their second 2021 player to another team.
