What do the LA Rams seem to do each year in the NFL Free Agency market? Or perhaps, more aptly stated, how long will the LA Rams be active in the 2022 NFL Free Agency market? Is time remaining on the meter? Or have the LA Rams already packed it up, calling it a day?

Get in. Go straight after what you are shopping for. Do what you’ve come to do. Pay for your purchases. Get out. While this could describe any shopping trip I have ever taken in my life – whether for groceries, replacement parts at the auto supply store, or shopping for Christmas gifts, it’s actually how the LA Rams approach free agency.

The team does not play the waiting game. There is not a reported pattern of players visiting the team’s facilities. There is no selling of the team’s success or culture to a player to sway their interest. It’s a pretty matter-of-fact process, or at least that his how it is portrayed during the process. Here’s the contract. Sign on the dotted line. Thank you. Next?

Fans vs. Rams Free Agency shopping list

While there had been and are more needs than what free agency seems to fill with this team, it seems to be a sticking point between the fans versus the coaches and the front office. Perhaps it’s simply easier to spend the team’s money than our own? Perhaps many of us lose sight of the ultimate objective. That is, not what a player has done in their history, but how will that player perform on this team?

And will the Rams truly get back in on-field production what it costs them in terms of investment? That is more than salary cap dollars, mind you. It’s the cost of sitting a young developing player and playing a seasoned veteran. It’s a roster spot. It’s all of the intangibles that we, as fans, gloss over in our pleas and lobbying efforts to do more in free agency.

Do the LA Rams truly turn a deaf ear? Or are they simply sticking to a winning formula and we are the outliers, the distractions, to that successful strategy? Ultimately, the LA Rams are gonna roll the way they roll. So kick back and enjoy the journey folks…
