OT Dare Rosenthal – NFL Draft grade 5.80 (Priority FA)
If the LA Rams wish to add offensive linemen, look for them to do so after the draft. One such player who strikes me as very intriguing for the team is Kentucky Wildcats offensive tackle, Dare Rosenthal. He is a tall, lengthy draft prospect who is pretty raw. But that gives the Rams a better chance of coaching him up into the type of NFL offensive tackle that they need.
He is a 6-foot-7, 290 pound Paul Bunyan type whose frame could easily handle an additional 20 pounds or so of muscle mass. He has good instincts with his feet and handwork, and he is adept at kick-outs and squaring up his shoulder pads to maintain blocks longer than you think he can.
Like many taller OTs, he gets dinged for his inability to bend low enough (they all do). But he does need to add some strength to build some power and durability to play at the NFL level. But if you interested in an offensive lineman to help run blocking downfield? Rosenthal can motor folks.
He is a very intriguing player in terms of what he could be, rather than what he presents right now. And what he presents right now is pretty good. He’s certainly worth a shot as a FA priority after the draft if he falls that far. He has been rumored to have questionable maturity by some draft analysts. But OC Liam Coen has first-hand experience working with him and will have a lot to say about that if the Rams have interest in a promising offensive tackle.
