LA Rams: 2022 post-free agency Mock Draft
With the end of the LA Rams’ Super Bowl celebrations and the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, all of the pre-draft activities are officially in the history books. Now, the 2022 NFL Draft process is fully underway. The 2022 NFL Combine and the lead-up to NFL Free Agency did provide a few insights as to what the Rams front office may have in store for this year’s draft. But the history of the Rams’ is such that it’s never easy to GPS exactly what the team plans to do.
The 2022 NFL Draft will be interesting for the LA Rams, as the team has legitimate needs, but the team has no first or second-round picks. In fact, the team has no pick in this draft among the Top-100 selections off the board. Still, the Rams’ choices can lead to significant additions, especially in positions that have not been prioritized during free agency.
The end of the season also means that the Rams know the exact order of picks going into the NFL Draft, barring more trades. Compensatory picks have been announced, so the current LA Rams’ draft picks are expected to be :
- Third Round: one pick
- Fourth Round: one pick
- Fifth Round: one pick
- Sixth Round: three picks
- Seventh Round: two picks
The current assortment of picks leaves the team in a position where the goal is to draft players with solid depth potential or the ability to play a specific role on the team. These players are for the future rather than the present.
Some of these players may see substantial roles on the team depending on how the offseason shakes out. The rest of free agency and retirements could drastically change the team’s needs.
There are a variety of online mock draft simulators and big boards to use, but for this mock draft, the simulator of choice is The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Simulator. TDN’s Predictive Board will also be in use to maintain continuity.
The objective of this Mock Draft is to be as realistic or provide justification for any players that fall to the LA Rams. There will not be any first-round talents that fall to the end of the third round.
Late-round gems can still turn into great players, and all of these players are worth watching the draft stock of as the offseason progresses. Let’s get started…
