With the 175th selection of the 2022 NFL Draft

In the fifth round, the LA Rams select

With the offseason departures of Von Miller and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, the LA Rams need reinforcements at outside linebacker. Fortunately for the front office, OLB is one of the deepest positions in this year’s draft, which will allow the team to draft other needs first.

Still, Jeffrey Gunter is not a consolation prize for the LA Rams waiting to draft help along the EDGE. During his time at Coastal Carolina, Gunter was a standout and helped take that program to its current status in college football.

Jeffrey Gunter is another great athlete who has potential on a revamped Rams defense, with Bobby Wagner joining the team as one of the starting inside linebackers.

A field general like Wagner and a defensive coordinator like Raheem Morris can help Gunter use his athleticism to maximize his success. The LA Rams can put Gunter’s athleticism on display with the defenders that will be around him in LA.

Despite his speed and explosiveness, Jeffrey Gunter does have areas where he can significantly improve if he is booming at the next level.

Poor agility and mass mean that he needs teammates to set him up for success. If Gunter needs to find a way to make a play by working toward the ball carrier, he can face some challenges.

While he refines his technique and works to get to NFL mass, the rest of the LA Rams’ defensive front is more than capable enough to open some doors for him to make plays early in his career, which makes him a great addition at this point in the draft.
