5 FA options for LA Rams to shake things up before the draft

Rams Free Agency option IV: OLB Melvin Ingram
The LA Rams do not necessarily need to sign a veteran outside linebacker who has just put up career-high numbers. In fact, it makes zero sense for them to do so. After all, just signing a player to the Rams’ defensive front often takes care of that for them.
What I believe the team does need is a veteran who can give the team quality snaps on a rotational basis, the ability to mentor younger teammates, and resistance to wilt as the competition increases. Oh, and the approval of LA Rams All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald is certainly a plus too.
6-foot-2 247-pound veteran Melvin Ingram is the type of player who can mentor younger players, is constantly getting after the quarterback, and who gives each defensive snap everything he’s got. While he may have receded in his individual stats, he continues to impact the outcome of games.
But the quality of Ingram that just makes perfect sense to add him to this defense was his ability to turn it on in just three games of the 2021 NFL Playoffs. In 15 regular-season games, he was good for 25 tackles and just 2.0 quarterback sacks. But in the postseason, he turned three games into five tackles and 2.0 quarterback sacks. And that was without the help of the Aaron Donald effect, folks.
Sometimes reunions are just what is needed. Why not re-sign former Rams DE Morgan Fox?
