With the 142nd selection of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected cornerback Decobie Durant Jr from South Carolina State. Here’s what Rams fans had to say about the pick.
The second pick for the Los Angeles Rams of the 2022 NFL Draft fits in at the end of the fourth round. They elected to take Decobie Durant Jr out of South Carolina State, who played at the Shrine Bowl this offseason and has shown some solid skills over the pre-draft process.
DeCobie Durant is a slot corner. Ball skills. A lot like DWill imo. Full breakdown tonight in the thread

Durant is an intriguing pick in terms of his size. He’s smaller than everyone else in that secondary, but he made big plays when he played against bigger schools. He’s versatile – which fits what the Rams want.
The immediate impact that Durant will have in Los Angeles should be very minimal. I think he’s going to flash in the preseason but he should remain on the practice squad until there is an injury in the secondary, especially considering the fact that Troy Hill is back in Los Angeles.

Snead's Snacks Strikes again!
Decobie Durant is built like Darious Williams. 5'9 with speed and has the ball production that the Rams look for. pic.twitter.com/7IgFxudl8R
Here’s another kneejerk reaction to the addition of a new secondary player:
With their 2nd pick in the #NFLDraft, the #Rams select Decobie Durant, South Carolina State CB. Speed guy and the Rams need CB depth

Some takes are optimistic, even with a cautioned welcome:
Decobie Durant is someone who will end up being better now being in that Rams organization than people thought coming out of the draft. Fit is everything. I'm not the biggest fan of it but clearly they wanted a slot corner and probably were higher on him than most of us.

Others are a bit more positive:

Some reactions were outright ecstatic:
Someone called Decobie Durant a "clone of Cortland Finnegan" and I could not be more overjoyed.

And some have taken a bigger picture take on this selection.
The Decobie Durant pick makes a lot more sense now that Troy Hill is coming home. Hill immediately is the favorite for CB2 and Durant will compete with David Long for nickel

That’s a pretty quick poll of the reactions. The LA Rams secondary is now ready for the 2022 NFL season, and it happened instantly. What do you think of the trade?
