The LA Rams have plenty of work to do. But perhaps the toughest move, that first draft selection, is behind them now. The Rams have broken the ice, and based on the initial reports from Hollywood Hills, the team is exceptionally happy with the outcome of their first rookie selection.

But let’s not pat ourselves on the back too quickly. The Rams have significant and multiple positional needs remaining. Their two biggest roster needs in my opinion are defensive roles: Edge rushers and defensive backs. Unfortunately, both positions have been hit exceptionally hard in just the first three rounds of this draft.

Positions that remain deep with players who could start or earn a rotational role include offensive linemen, running backs, and yes, even punters.  But a run on quarterbacks, tight ends, or other positions could divert attention away from the Rams’ critical needs, and allow a talented prospect from one of those positions to fall to the Rams at 142, 175, or beyond.

When do the LA Rams pick on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft?

  • Fourth Round
  • Pick 142
  • Fifth Round
  • Pick 175
  • Sixth Round
  • Pick 211
  • Pick 212
  • Pick 218
  • Seventh Round
  • Pick 239
  • Pick 253

And now, there is a pause in the action. By our estimation, there are 65 prospects (plus or minus) who could arrive and compete for playing time from the get-go. Will the Rams select from that pool of talented players? Or will they veer off in another direction?

Stay tuned folks. Things are just beginning to heat up.
