The LA Rams defense was hit hard by free agency, but the team has done an incredible job of keeping plenty of talent flowing in via late-round rookies or even undrafted rookie free agents. But each year, the defense seems to reload in ways that not even the most ardent fan can anticipate. Who had any clue that heroes in the defense for the NFL Playoffs would include Nick Scott, David Long Jr., and Eric Weddle?

This year, the LA Rams have a number of opportunities for rookies to earn a spot on the team’s 53-man roster. I believe that the team simply must go with five outside linebackers, all but ensuring that rookie Daniel Hardy earns a roster spot. While the Rams’ secondary may not open roster spots for rookies, I believe that the safety position will make room for both rookies Quentin Lake and Russ Yeast.

Finally, I believe that many more rookies COULD earn a roster spot. I believe that both drafted cornerbacks Decobie Durant and Derion Kendrick could end up on this roster. Where will the Rams make the necessary cuts to do so? That is something I simply do not see at this time. Perhaps the team will go with just three inside linebackers?
