Where do the LA Rams stand now in the NFC West
Seattle Seahawks
With the Seattle Seahawks, it really feels like they are all in on a rebuild this season. Trading away the star of the team and franchise quarterback, Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, followed by not drafting a quarterback in the draft, leaves everything on Drew Lock.
The Seahawks signed Levi Lewis out of Louisiana-Lafayette as an undrafted rookie free agent, who had a stellar collegiate career but is certainly a major project and needs a year or two of development. Drew Lock appears a “lock” to be the starting quarterback for the Seahawks and unless he makes a significant leap this year, does not appear to be anything more than a backup in the NFL.
They also added Kenneth Walker to the backfield to go along with Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny, among others; however, the selection of Walker seems odd, given the running back talent already on the team and an apparent lack of talent at the quarterback position. They still have solid weapons at the skill positions outside of the quarterback but Lock also had that in Denver and it never translated into success on the offensive side of the ball. There is always the possibility of Geno Smith taking the lead in the quarterback room but there is a reason he’s been a backup for the better part of his career. Seattle added five new offensive players via the draft, including three of the first four picks.
The Seattle defense ranked an abysmal 28th in the league a season ago and coming into 2022, they will be without a key member of their defense for the past several years in Bobby Wagner, losing him to a division rival, the LA Rams. They did sign Uchenna Nwosu and Quinton Jefferson to two-year deals, among others, and re-signing some of their own but will it be enough to move them out of the cellar in the NFC West?
