3 LA Rams players who should join Tom Brady in broadcast booth
By Bret Stuter
Option III: Do that one more time and I’m gonna…
Although he stepped away from the game at the end of the 1997 season, former LA Rams quarterback Jim Everett would be another ideal broadcast booth partner for Tom Brady. While he has been away from the game for a number of years, he remains very connected to the NFL and is a fantastic follow on social media.
But who am I kidding? I just look for reasons to revisit the Jim Everett shutdown of Jim Rome on live television some 28 years ago. What am I talking about? Well, see for yourself…
Wouldn’t you just roll on the floor laughing if Brady pissed off Jim Everett in the broadcast booth and got a similar treatment?
All kidding aside, Everett is another sage NFL veteran who has remained open and personable even beyond his NFL career. While I’m not a television producer, I truly fear that placing Tom Brady in a broadcast booth will either excite or disappoint potential viewers. In today’s NFL, there are simply too many other viewing options to risk alienating anyone.
Placing Everett into the broadcast booth alongside Brady would be a wonderful step in smoothing Brady’s rough edges. Besides, Everett is quite versed in football terminology but can avoid the condescending tone that too often accompanies a former player trying to talk about the game. Everett slides in and out of football talk with ease, always making key points easily understood while avoiding talking down to anyone in the audience.
In the end, @NFLonFox has a chance to assemble a great broadcast team. But the booth will need more than Tom Brady to make that happen. We have three professional, highly qualified, and personable recommendations to join Brady in the booth. Did we miss anyone?
