While the LA Rams are the defending NFL Champions, the NFL has constructed a number of challenging barriers whose sole purpose is to hinder a team from repeating as Super Bowl winners in consecutive years.  What do I mean?

The 2022 NFL schedule finally came out and let’s just say the LA Rams’ chances to repeat appear to be remote, as their schedule this year already appears to be extremely difficult. The Rams are ranked number one in the strength of schedule category. The Rams’ strength of schedule is based on the opposing team’s 2021 winning percentage and record.

Going into the 2022 season, the Rams’ opposing teams have a record of 164-125 with a .567 winning percentage. Looking through the Rams’ 2022 schedule, three games jump off the page because of the superstar quarterbacks they will have to face.

Week 1: Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Rams

Of course, the Rams would open up the season during prime time against one of the top QBs in the league. The Bills’ superstar quarterback, Josh Allen, was ranked third overall amongst active quarterbacks in 2021. Looking at Allen’s stats, it is difficult not to argue he is one of the best in the league.  Allen has emerged as a dual-threat quarterback throughout his four years in the NFL, making it a difficult time for opposing defenses to gameplan against him. Allen is going to give the 2021 fifth-ranked defense all they can handle right from the start. We pulled Allen’s stats from NFL.com

  • Josh Allen’s 2021 stats: 19 games | 64.5 pct | 5,044 pass yds | 7.1 ypa | 45 pass TD | 15 INT | 897 rush yds | 6 rush TD | 9 fumbles

Week 12: Los Angeles Rams at Kansas City Chiefs

The last time the Chiefs and Rams faced off was back in 2018 and it was a game that people can’t forget. The final score of the game was 54-51 and Mahomes had a career day. Even though the Rams won, Mahomes had a passer rating of 117.6 with 478 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions all in one game. Since that game, both teams have restructured their rosters, but both offenses are still extremely explosive. According to NFL.com, Mahomes is ranked 7th amongst active quarterbacks, but if you are not prepared for him, he will put up a ton of points. Again, we pulled Patrick Mahomes stats from NFL.com.

  • Patrick Mahomes’s 2021 stats: 17 games | 66.3 pct | 4,839 pass yds | 7.4 ypa | 37 pass TD | 13 INT | 381 rush yds | 2 rush TD | 3 fumbles

Week 15: Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers

The week 15 match-up against the Green Bay Packers will be one of the toughest games on the Rams’ schedule. The Rams will have to face the Packers’ four-time MVP quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, at freezing Lambeau Field. Currently, Rodgers is ranked 2nd amongst active quarterbacks. Rodgers is extremely accurate and can expose defenses weakness. With Devante Adams leaving Green Bay, it will be difficult to tell how explosive the Packers’ offense will be, but you can never count out Aaron Rodgers. In the offseason, Rodgers got paid and the Packers are fully invested in the superstar quarterback. There are no longer any distractions in Green Bay and look for Rodgers to have another MVP season. His impressive stats were pulled from NFL.com as well.

  • Aaron Rodger’s 2021 stats: 17 games | 68.9 pct | 4,340 pass yds | 7.8 ypa | 37 pass TD | 4 INT | 101 rush yds | 3 rush TD | 4 fumbles

Another tough matchup

Besides these three difficult games, the Rams face almost all of the top quarterbacks in the NFL at some point in the season. The Rams will face off against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers s for a week nine matchup. It is difficult to judge what Brady has left in the tank, but Brady is the GOAT, and you need to be fully prepared to face him.

The Rams’ defense will need to be sharp early and often if the Rams are looking to repeat in 2022. Also, the offense will need to put up a lot of points if their defense is going to face all these explosive offenses. Each week the Rams will need to be ready to play or else it will be a long year.
