When the Buffalo Bills arrive to face the LA Rams for the NFL Kickoff Classic, the hype that will follow the Bills into the season opener will be at a frenzied pitch. The Bills felt that they had a team capable of competing in Super Bowl LVI, and after defeating the AFC East nemesis New England Patriots, they were feeling quite proud of themselves.

They didn’t figure on the Kansas City Chiefs offense, however, and lost a slobberknocker in overtime by the score of 42-36. The overtime loss, in which the Chiefs scored a TD with their first possession, occured because Josh Allen never touched the ball. That precipitated a rules change, which now ensures both teams’ offenses will handle one possession in overtime.

With high expectations for a hugely successful season, and so much “we were screwed” baggage from the 2021 NFL playoffs, the media will promote the Bills to the point where it will be tough for Buffalo to ignore the media attention or chatter.

The schedule works against them this year. The LA Rams, revved up over defending their NFL Championship Title at SoFi Stadium will be mentally and emotionally prepared for this game.  While the offense is still quite capable, the Bills no longer have multiple receiver threats at the same level as that 2020 offense.  The Bills still have a very mobile quarterback in Josh Allen, a phenomenal WR in Stefon Diggs, and a solid running back in Devin Singletary.

But the LA Rams can counter with Aaron Donald/Leonard Floyd rushing Allen, Jalen Ramsey covering Diggs, and now Bobby Wagner thumping on Singletary.  I think the Rams defense shows up early in this one and raises some eyebrows.
