October Rams games: Schedule dates, times, and predictions for Weeks 6 and 8

Week 6:
Carolina Panthers (Home)

The LA Rams have a chance to rebound against a less than formidable opponent. They host the Carolina Panthers, a team that will likely be hoping for a new franchise quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Panthers will be led by quarterback Sam Darnold, the same magician that engineered a winless New York Jets team to their first 2020 victory at the LA Rams’ expense.

I don’t expect a repeat performance. The Rams have gotten much better in the middle of their defense, and the Panthers will be frantically trying to fix all of the little breaks in their game plans on the fly.  The Rams will be looking to get back on track, and the Panthers supply the perfect team to do so. It’s a long way for the Panthers to travel for a beating

Week 8

San Francisco 49ers (home)

• Date:     Sunday, October 30
• Time:     1:25 pm PT
• TV:          Fox

The Rams host the pesky 49ers in Week 8, and the Rams are feeling pretty good about themselves with a 5-1 record coming into their Week 7 BYE week.  The LA Rams may emerge from their BYE week, but that is no guarantee of a victory. In fact, the LA Rams are just 3-2 after a BYE under head coach Sean McVay. Somehow, the 49ers will find a way to cobble together a victory in this one.

Whether they are fighting to reclaim a .500 record, find a reason to play veteran Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback, or simply talk Deebo Samuel into returning to his hybrid RB/WR role, the 49ers are incredibly resilient and scrappy.  The Rams will most likely split the 2022 series. If the Rams win in San Francisco, I could see the 49ers finding some way to win in Los Angeles.
