Has the LA Rams roster gotten worse throughout this off-season?
Attrition, ain’t it a bitch?
Nine players from that Super Bowl-winning aide have now gone.
The offensive line has been completely blown up, he began. Starting veteran Andrew Whitworth, the best pass protecting left tackle in the league just retired. Who’s going to replace him? Joseph Noteboom? Starting right guard Austin Corbett had signed a contract to play for the Carolina Panthers.
Losing veteran OLB Von Miller is a crushing loss.
Even worse. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, who is still one of the best wide receivers out there when healthy, is probably not going to get healthy in time. Or, at least, not healthy enough for the LA Rams to re-sign him before some other team does. We love health out here, in case you hadn’t noticed. Fetishize it. He’s going to be gone. Long-time wide receiver Robert Woods has been traded away for almost a bag of chips and a can of soda.
We’re talking Bobby Trees.
So that’s two elite wide receivers, gone. Worse. Running back Sony Michel, who the team leaned on when RB Cam Akers went down last year and Darrell Henderson couldn’t be counted upon to suit up, has signed on to play for the Miami Dolphins.
We lost versatile defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph Day from the defensive line. To the Chargers, no less.
We released Johnny Hekker, an outstanding punter, to the Carolina Panthers. Darious Williams left in free agency for the Jacksonville Jaguars. And then, he paused and smirked. A harsh listing of charges against the team, to be sure. But much like the Charlie Daniels song: The Devil Went Down to Georgia, the devil was done, and Johnny was about to stand up and resin up his bow.
