LA Rams schedule: 4 games we can’t afford to lose
By Bret Stuter
Week 2
In Week 2, the Atlanta Falcons travel to face the LA Rams in SoFi Stadium. That’s a long distance to travel, but one factor that will help the Falcons to compete is that the late kickoff time is slated for 1:05 pm PT. That equates to a 4:05 pm ET kickoff, which is far better than the 10:05 am PT start time if this game was being played in Atlanta Georgia.
The Atlanta Falcons are now led by a new quarterback, Marcus Mariota. But who is he throwing to? The Falcons have stripped the cupboards bare when it comes to offensive weaponry. Of course, there is WR/RB Cordarelle Patterson. And there is the scrambling ability of Mariota. But that is about it on the offensive side of the ball.
The Falcons’ defense can play well enough. But their comfort level seems to take time to muster. In Week two of the 2021 NFL season, the Falcons allowed 45 points to the then-defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This year, the Falcons face the defending Super Bowl Champion LA Rams in Week 2.
The LA Rams will have 10 days to prepare for this game, as the Rams host the Buffalo Bills in the TNF NFL Kickoff Classic. Of course, the ‘any given Sunday’ warning label is sewn into this one. But if the Rams are to compete in the NFL Playoffs, this game is a must-win.
