The LA Rams are still making inroads to generate social media support. Well, in terms of what they face from other NFL teams, the LA Rams are a bit lagging. The LA Rams’ official Twitter account has just 1.1 million followers. Compare that to the San Francisco 49ers’ Twitter account with 2.3 million followers, or the Seattle Seahawks Twitter account with 2.5 million followers, and you begin to see the problem.
In the NFC West, only the Arizona Cardinals Twitter account has fewer followers, at 1.0 million.
So when we find ourselves migrating to a new social media platform, you may logically expect similar results, right? Well, you would be wrong. It seems as though there are more LA Rams followers on their Tik Tok account than on Twitter. Huh?

I won’t lie. I’m not one of the Tik Tok followers. Social media accounts seem to be repetitive to me. There are a number of social media outlets available to people now, and all of them offer a unique blend of features, ease of access, and types of media that can be communicated. But as each new option becomes available, they have begun to blend features and usefulness.
Clearly, there are differences. And part of those differences may simply be the demographics of the typical user. Will Tik Tok overcome Twitter’s popularity? It could.
Perhaps the larger story here is the popularity of the NFL in the city of Los Angeles. Despite the unparalleled success of the LA Rams, winning over fans is taking time. It’s been five years since the Rams returned to Los Angeles. We’d seen the struggles the team has had in filling seats with Rams fans at SoFi Stadium. But the fans are coming back. If for nothing else, just to see the Lombardi Trophy:

It’s going to take time. The Rams have only been back in Los Angeles a short time. And during that time, the team has been winning. How long will it take to win back the majority of LA hearts? More than five years apparently.
But if the Tik Tok numbers are any indication, the team is making inroads now. And with the Lombardi Trophy on tour throughout the area, it won’t be long before Rams supporters swell.
