Pick 212

The LA Rams continued to add secondary help in Round 6, this time picking up a 6-foot-0 194-pound defensive back Derion Kendrick from the University of Georgia. He has a background as a quarterback, wide receiver, and four-year starter as an ACC/SEC cornerback.

What does the team need for this position?

With the team trading for Troy Hill, the LA Rams aided their roster development significantly. Hill can line up opposite Jalen Ramsey, allowing younger defensive backs to ease into more significant roles. The Rams play more zone defense, which also aids in the ease of integrating younger defensive backs into a productive role earlier.

What does this rookie deliver?

While he has made some questionable decisions off-field, his determination and collegiate on-field career tell a different story. He could compete for a slot cornerback role quickly. His past experience as a receiver makes him incredibly adept at reading routes and jumping for interceptions.

He also brings the ability to shine on special teams: Both in a coverage role as well as a return specialist.

Draft Grade: A-. Did the LA Rams address two needs with one Round 6 selection? Kendrick has a solid secondary pedigree, as well as the potential to be a significant contributor on special teams. That’s pretty solid.
