OBJ cryptic Instagram message reigniting hope for LA Rams reunion
By Bret Stuter
The off-season for the LA Rams organization has been moving right along. From the NFL Free Agency market, through the NFL Draft, instantly into signing undrafted rookie free agents (a.k.a. CFAs, college free agents), the LA Rams have been lining up, checking boxes, and shopping the available talent to reload the roster.
But with all this shopping, with each new or familiar face joining this team for the 2022 NFL season, there is that one familiar face who has yet to burst onto social media. That player is veteran free agent Odell Beckham Jr., and he is trying to wait patiently for that day when the Rams and his agent can meet and agree to terms to bring OBJ back to the fold.
This is not an easy time for the young man. He is caught in the limbo land of rehabbing and waiting. Odell Beckham Jr.’s future is uncertain, and he continues to attempt to distract himself from the obvious, passing the time in any way possible to make the time fly by.
Real or mirage message
For the well-meaning fans, they are stuck in limbo too. They are the silent masses, the cheering crowds from stadium seats and in front of televised broadcasts of Super Bowl LVI. They are the voiceless supporters, the ones who would love nothing more than to learn of news, any news, that the LA Rams and Odell Beckham Jr.
It’s a constant driving wish. Like a young child eagerly anticipating the arrival of Santa Claus on Christmas morning. Or perhaps more like a person who is parched in the desert heat. When the desire grows so large, the eyes can play funny tricks on a person. Mirages appear. We see what we want to see.
And there you are. A cryptic message. An NFL wide receiver without a contract. An uncertain future. A fan base longing for news, any news, that one of the players who helped carry the team to a Super Bowl LVI will return to help carry the team to a similar outcome in Super Bowl LVII.
Wait… is that an oasis on the horizon? Just over that ridge. I certainly hope so because we are all getting parched right now.
