The LA Rams continue to be one of the leaders among NFL outreach programs. The team does not shy away from supporting the community, whether that means promoting local businesses, supporting social reform, or simply creating a podium through which players and coaches can speak to so many about current events.

But this weekend, the three-day Memorial Day weekend, I thought it would be worth the time to publicize all the many ways that the LA Rams help military members and their families who risk everything for this country, and to those who sacrifice everything. And by everything, we mean that they are willing to lay down their lives to help others.

Why so much fuss? The United States has not fought a war in many years. Well, much of that is due, in part, to the peacekeeping role of the US military. We send troops to many destinations to squelch armed hostilities, allowing cooler heads to prevail through the diplomatic channels of negotiation and compromise. But the very act of showing up anywhere in the world where there is armed conflict and shooting places American lives in harm’s way. That’s the job. That’s the mission. We ask our military to show up under the worst circumstances and restore order.

They are not old seasoned mid-lifers. Our military is made up of young men and women. They have their entire lives ahead of them and have chosen to serve our country. And the risks they face extend far beyond their service time. So how do the LA Rams serve them?

The LA Rams have a number of programs to honor military veterans and their families. First and perhaps foremost is the Los Angeles Rams Salute to Service Requests which include:

Commendation for Service Certificate – The LA Rams will issue a Commendation for Service Certificate to recognize military achievements such as retirement, promotion, etc.

Hero of the Week – Each week, the LA Rams will honor a different veteran or first responder and highlight their service through our website and social channels.

Military Mob Squad Care Package – The LA Rams are able to support the service men and women serving domestically and overseas by sending them a little piece of home in the form of a Military Mob Squad Care Package to help raise their spirits and let them know that they are remembered.

Re-Enlistment Oath Ceremony at the Sofi Stadium – The LA Rams recognize service members from all branches of the military during an on-field ceremony held during pre-game of a Rams home game.

Military service is exactly that, service. And the young men and women who opt to take on the mantle of military careers, even for a short-term commitment, know that service are not always recognized. But as we toss our steaks onto the grills this weekend, pop open a cold one and reminisce with loved ones, please do not forget to remember those who gave their lives so that we might have a peace-filled life.

“I think of a hero as someone who understands the degree of responsibility that comes with his freedom.” – Bob Dylan. Amen.

Trending. The LA Rams secondary and ILB could shine as well in the 2022 defense. light
