When it rains, it pours. As soon as the LA Rams had determined and secured All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald into a new deal, the dam broke on the Rams’ front office backlog of work. (as expected). The Rams wasted no time in signing all eight NFL drafted rookies, and now one of the final off-season projects has been accomplished. Which one is that?
Why signing Rams WR Cooper Kupp to a massive extension, that’s what. And what do we know about that new deal? For starters, it’s done.
Cooper Kupp and the Rams reached agreement today on a three-year extension that ties him to LA for the next five years, at $110 million, and allows him to assume his rightful place amongst the NFL’s highest-paid WRs, per sources.

Everything is happening quickly, isn’t it? Well, that’s how it goes with the LA Rams. While the team is particularly meticulous over contract negotiations, the hierarchy over getting contracts signed was always going, to begin with, Aaron Donald. And Cooper Kupp understood that completely. Much like the contract negotiations in 2020 over Jalen Ramsey, Kupp understood that he is one of the top performers in the NFL, and the LA Rams would take good care of him.
Cooper is unKuppable
How good is Cooper Kupp? Well, it’s truly difficult to create a comparison. From a historical perspective, he is suddenly one of the NFL’s All-Time greats. From an LA Rams perspective, he was a dominating offensive weapon whose 2021 performance not only set All-Time franchise and NFL records but almost single-handedly carried the Rams to and through the NFL playoffs.
Only two receivers in NFL history have:

-- Won AP Offensive Player of the Year
-- Won the receiving triple crown
-- Won Super Bowl MVP
Jerry Rice and Cooper Kupp.

While we can fawn over his receptions, his receiving yards, his receiving touchdowns, and even his incredible catch percentage, it’s easy to overlook just how valuable Kupp is in all aspects.
Yes, Kupp is an elite receiver. But he is also used as the occasional running in games, and in 14 rushes has racked up seven first downs. But he is more than that. Cooper Kupp, much like former teammate Robert Woods, is incredibly adept at blocking. He is fearless, and will oftentimes take on and neutralize defenders who are much larger than he is.
The Rams have now reached an agreement with QB Matthew Stafford, DL Aaron Donald, and WR Cooper Kupp. The team has signed all of their drafted rookies as well as undrafted rookies as well.
What’s left?
Well, there is that matter of re-signing WR Odell Beckham Jr.
Stay tuned…
