The status of LA Rams RB Darrell Henderson is beginning to resemble a joke about the two seasons that you face in Alaska: Winter and Road Construction. But for Darrell Henderson, the joke is injured, or the offseason. It seems that RB Darrell Henderson is already suffering from a soft tissue injury. The problem? If you google or Twitter search Darrell Henderson and soft tissue injury, you will get multiple events. So be careful.

The latest injury is an ongoing bout of residual soft tissue injury that may or may not be an aggravated previous injury he suffered. For now, that ‘tweak’ has him off the practice field and that’s where the problem begins. Again.

Henderson is . . . ahem . . . nursing an injury.

The Rams roster needs reliable runners

Henderson’s role in the LA Rams offense has never been truly defined. The role he was drafted to fill was a change of pace running back. In theory, he was the spice sprinkled into the offense occasionally to spice up the offense.

But in more practical ways, the Rams have used him as a starting running back, as a full member of a running back by committee group, as a backup running back, and even as a receiver to loosen up secondary coverages.

The guy has the heart of a lion, a fierce competitor who will put it all on the football field in any and every way possible. He is a fast rusher, a player whose ability to attack a defense’s perimeter, pick up a blitzing defender, or run a pass route keeps even the sharpest defenders on their heels.

And it happens regardless of how much care the team exhibits in training camp, in practices, and even in meting out his offensive snaps.
