All-Pro defensive lineman

. . Aaron Donald. 2. player. 51.

LA Rams DL Aaron Donald is the gold standard for the LA Rams defense, and perhaps for the NFL at large. All the while he plays for the LA Rams, he enhances the performance of almost any defender who lines up next to him.

For years, that enhancement has come to be known as the Aaron Donald effect. Defenders who sign on with the LA Rams see an almost instant career-high spike in their production. That increase attracts other teams to bid highly for those players. The latest lucrative contract signed by a former teammate of Donald is that of the Buffalo Bills for OLB Von Miller.

We’ll see how that works out.

In the meantime, the LA Rams worked for weeks, but finally reached a new arrangement with Donald for the next three seasons. While that may not seem like a wise move for the Rams, it’s actually the right move. The last time the Rams sat down with Donald to renegotiate a contract was in 2018.

In 2018, Aaron Donald set his career-high mark of quarterback sacks and hits. He recorded 20.5 sacks and 41 quarterback hits that year. Now, he appears to be out to better that mark.

The last time the LA Rams reworked Donald’s contract, he had a hellishly impressive season. But the fact is that he is an interior defensive lineman who can do it all. The Rams have been just as effective at taking care of Donald so far to the point where Aaron Donald can focus on delivering All-Pro performances year after year.
