When the LA Rams players stepped foot onto the football field of the quite familiar settings of SoFi Stadium, the narrative that was played rather extensively was the comparison to the tale of David (the Cincinnati Bengals) and Goliath (the LA Rams). It was an easy comparison to make because, throughout the 2022 NFL season, there was a stock narrative about the LA Rams only dealing with the top-shelf players in the league.

If NFL headlines needed a background story, they pulled the LA Rams do blockbuster trades story to reinforce that vision across the nation of an NFL roster that sips champaign, drives up to practice in a limousine as though it were a red carpet event, and is dressed by a small army of personal valets.

The Rams constructed a roster that bore fruit because their personnel department combined what a player could do on the football with the reason why they were able to do it. The team sought players who were blessed with athleticism, cursed with a stubborn determination to get it done, and afflicted with a passion for the game of football that would take them through hell and back at times.
