3 possible destinations for self-described NFL 6th man, Donte Deayon
By Bret Stuter
LA Chargers
Perhaps the most obvious choice right off the bat is the LA Chargers. The Chargers have installed the Brandon Staley defensive package, and Donte Deayon is quite familiar with that defense. Even beyond that, the entire AFC West Division teams did a bit of binge shopping throughout the NFL Free Agency Market, and if they did not find what they wanted, well they traded for it.
That all means fireworks over the skies of AFC West stadiums. So the only effective countermeasure is to beef up the aerial defense. Deayon can help to do exactly that. While not a 17-game starter by any means, he is a versatile defensive back who can slide into either outside or even the slot for smaller receivers.
And at denying 40 percent of the passes thrown his way, he is someone that the Chargers should want on the football field.
It’s quite clear that the Chargers wanted to strengthen their defense, and have certainly attracted the type of big-name NFL stars to place them back on the map in terms of NFL defensive statistics. While I am not suggesting that Deayon is among the big-name NFL stars, he is a feisty and highly competitive NFL player who will not only give 100 percent himself but ensure that his teammates are doing so as well.
Deayon would also reunite with former teammates, like defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day and tight end Gerald Everett.
