LA Rams: Buffalo Bills in Week 1 best game to open the NFL season
By Steve Rivera
Week 1 of the 2022 season in the National Football League has a lot on the line for the LA Rams. They will face the signature team in the AFC when they host the Buffalo Bills and their highly lauded quarterback Josh Allen at SoFi Stadium on Thursday Night Football on September 5, 2022, at 5:15 pm PT.
It’s a game that has a lot of intrigue for both teams. The Rams will immediately find out if they suffer from a post-Super Bowl hangover, or if it’s going to be business as usual for Rams head coach Sean McVay and his team.
Granted, Opening Day in the 2022 NFL season has some marquee matchups. The Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Cincinnati Bengals in an AFC North battle, while the Cleveland Browns face off against the Carolina Panthers and former starting quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Also, the Green Bay Packers will play long-time NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings, while the AFC has two charter members of the old AFL, the Las Vegas Raiders against the Los Angeles Chargers. For a twist, it’s the former Los Angeles AFC team traveling to take on the current Los Angeles AFC team.
The AFC West will feature newly acquired quarterback Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos traveling to the Pacific Northwest to play the fading Seattle Seahawks.
Credit the NFL schedule makers for creating a great schedule to kick off the regular season. For fans, they get their money’s worth right out of the gate.
Week 1 will also set the table for teams with Super Bowl aspirations. Besides the LA Rams, the Bengals will want to prove 2021 wasn’t a mirage. Both the Raiders and the Chargers are capable of getting to a championship game.
In Denver, Russell Wilson will look to prove he still has the game to not just move the needle but to lift another Lombardi Trophy. In Green Bay, quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be looking to prove he still has one more Super Bowl in him.
It is storylines galore in Week 1 of the NFL season. For the LA Rams, hosting the Bills to open their 2022 campaign will be about validation of the best team in the league, and hopefully, begin a return to Championship Sunday in Glendale, Arizona, the site of Super Bowl LVII.
