The LA Rams kick off the 2022 NFL season with a Thursday Night Football sizzler against the Buffalo Bills at 5:00 pm PT on September 8, 2022. That, if you’ve checked your calendars, is less than six weeks away.  Yes, football, real football, is right around the corner.

The Buffalo Bills are one of the teams that are favored to win Super Bowl LVII. But to have the right to even compete for the right to play in that game, they’ll have to overcome some adversity. And they won’t have to wait very long, as adversity always seems to find those NFL teams with high expectations.

The Bills have those high expectations. And yes, the team is looking at some early adversity in training camp. Former Rams and current Bills projected starting OG Rodger Saffold will begin training camp for the Buffalo Bills on the Non-Football Injury list as he was involved in an automobile accident that resulted in injured ribs.

Normally a veteran only needs minimal work with his teammates, and Safford is one of the best. But in the off-season, he did not re-sign with the Tennessee Titans. Rather, he signed on with the Buffalo Bills and is one of the reasons NFL analysts believe that the Bills have upgraded this year.

But Saffold is not in pads, and likely will not be for some time. That could disrupt the offensive line’s timing, as he is new to the group. And with less than six weeks to go until the Bills face the Rams on the road, time is ticking.

The LA Rams are not without their own set of injuries to work through. But the team opted not to commit veteran defensive back, Jalen Ramsey, to the NFI list.

Saffold does not appear to be overly concerned just yet.

The Bills hope to sneak away with an early win against the Rams. But if Saffold is not ready to go, or suits up to play just days before kickoff, that will not improve their chances whatsoever.
