Projecting the LA Rams initial 16 player practice squad

The LA Rams continue to churn out incredible defensive linemen from the most modest beginnings. Coach Eric Henderson loves the grit of DT Elijah Garcia, and will have the chance to work with him this season on the practice squad. DE Earnest Brown IV may not have earned a roster spot on the LA Rams defensive line just yet, but with the Rams staring at multiple expiring contracts for the unit in 2023, it makes sense to invest a practice squad spot in him this year.
OLB Chris Garrett
OLB Brandon Whitley
The Rams OLB group appears a bit shallow on the depth chart, so look for the team to carry at least two on the practice squad. The Rams might be looking at the waiver wire to add an additional veteran performer after sending OLB Daniel Hardy to short-term Injured Reserve. If not, the team may re-sign Garrett to a roster spot and add another OLB to the practice squad
DB Daniel Isom
DB Duron Lowe
DB Grant Haley
DB/ILB Jake Gervase
The fact that the LA Rams are beginning the season with 11 (count ’em, 11) defensive backs illustrates just how demolished the Rams roster was in 2021 when the team was forced to lure formerly two-year retired veteran Eric Weddle out of retirement to rejoin the LA Rams. Don’t look for that to happen this year.
Special teams love Gervase’s throw-caution-to-the-wind style of play. The LA Rams loved what they saw out of the trio of young defensive backs in Daniel Isom, Duron Lowe, and Grant Haley. If the team finds an opportunity to add a player or two from another team, you can remove defensive backs from this list in reverse order.
