The LA Rams played a pretty bad game in their Week 1 debut, dousing the flames of hope to a team capable of running it back to fans who have forgotten the lessons learned from just one season ago.  The NFL is not about the oscillating wave of optimism that carries an NFL team from Week 1 to Week 21 (the NFL Championship Game), but rather the ability to:

A: Stay Healthy
B: Reflect, Regroup, Rectify, and Respond

The LA Rams lost a game, a loss that was on full display for the entire NFL to observe and take notice of.  Humbling? Yes. Humiliating? I suppose that depends on your expectations. Clearly, the expectations of the Rams extending their opening game winning streak to six consecutive seasons just flew out the window. But was that a realistic expectation?

Rams lost one game, as will 15 other teams

By Tuesday morning, the LA Rams will be joined by 15 other NFL teams with an opening loss. 0-1 is not problematic for an NFL team with visions of grandeur. But 0-2? Now that is when the wheat begins to separate from the chaff. The LA Rams need a win now. Somehow. Need. Yeah, that about covers it.

The LA Rams have never opened with a loss before in the entire history of head coach Sean McVay. But what about after two games?

In 2017: The Rams started the season 1-1 and would go on to finish the season 11-5 and win the NFC Western Division
In 2018: The Rams started the season 2-0, and would go on to finish the season 13-3, winning the NFC Western Division, and the NFC Championship, but would lose the NFL Championship
In 2019: The Rams started the season 2-0, and would go on to finish the season 9-7
In 2020: The Rams started the season 2-0, and would go on to finish the season 10-6
In 2021: The Rams started the season 2-0, and would go on to finish the season 12-5, winning the NFC Western Division, the NFC Championship, and the NFL Championship.

But in the 36 hours after the defeat, the reactions are a bit over the top. What type of reactions? Well, we’d painstakingly taken notes after the game and made notes on the top seven that seem to be more subjective drama and emotional outbursts than actual objective assessments. Like what?

Well, sit down and grab a hot cup o’ joe, because here we go:
