Injury status

The LA Rams are only two weeks into the 2022 NFL season, but the offensive line is already getting hammered with a high frequency of injuries. What do I mean? The LA Rams had opted to stock just eight offensive linemen on the initial 53-man roster.  After just two weeks of play, 37.5 percent of the Rams’ rostered offensive line is already injured.

The injuries are even worse if you roll in rookie Logan Bruss, whose left knee suffered both an MCL and ACL tear, and who was deemed out for the 2022 NFL season before the season ever arrived. So who are the LA Rams’ injured offensive linemen?

Rams OL injuries

Logan Bruss – Out for the season. IR
Brian Allen – Out an additional one to three weeks with a knee procedure
Joe Noteboom – MCL strain. He managed to start in Week 2.
Tremayne Anchrum – Broken fibula which will require surgery. The team will move him to IR. Out for the season.

If you are having visions of 2019, you are not alone. In that season, the Rams were forced to trade for offensive lineman Austin Corbett, and sign offensive lineman Coleman Shelton off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.

At the current rate of injuries, the Rams may be forced to trade or sign additional offensive line reinforcements on or about the BYE week. But, by the same token, the Rams’ offensive linemen clearly performed much better in Week 2, as we had expected.

We’ve covered quite a bit in this one, and we’ll investigate the offensive line many more times this season. But we can show that the LA Rams had a bad game, followed by a good game. Hopefully, the group will continue to improve. If the Rams are to have any hope of reaching the NFL Playoffs, the offensive line will need to perform among the NFL’s Top-5 offensive lines.

And while the group is much better, they aren’t there just yet.
