Wounded, but not out. Perhaps no other simple phrase best describes the LA Rams as they prepare to face their NFC West Division rivals, the Arizona Cardinals. This may not have the same undefeated vs. undefeated flavor as the Week 4 matchup in 2021 between these two teams, but the pressure is even more imposing.

The winner ascends to 2-1 and remains a full participant in the division race as the top team in the NFC West. The loser gets the double whammy of not only falling to a 1-2 record, but in facing a season that begins with a division loss.  That digs an early hole for the team that, as the LA Rams know from their 2021 experience, could take an entire season to recover from.

So far this season, the Arizona Cardinals have a statistically better offense than that of the LA Rams, while the Rams have a better defense. But taking into account that three of the LA Rams’ contributing defensive backs are out for this game, plus a starting defensive back Troy Hill has been moved to injured reserve, this game is setting up to be a scoring shootout.

LA Rams Injury Report vs Cardinals Week 3

Rams

  • OC Brian Allen (Knee) – Out
  • WR Van Jefferson (Knee) – Out
  • DB David Long Jr. (Groin) – Out
  • DB Cobie Durant (Hamstring) – Out
  • DB Jordan Fuller (Hamstring) – Questionable

Cardinals

  • WR Rondale Moore (Hamstring) – Out
  • LB Ezekiel Turner (Ankle) – Out
  • RB James Conner (Ankle)- Questionable

The Cardinals had lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the opener, but rebounded nicely to defeat a playoff-hopeful Las Vegas Raiders team in Week 2. Most significantly, the Cardinals neutralized WR Davante Adams in the game, allowing him to catch just two of seven passes thrown his way, much like they neutralize LA Rams Cooper Kupp in their upset win just one year ago.

Recommended Bets:

I don’t know that the Rams are the better team by a 3.5-point road margin in this one. The Rams’ offense is sputtering, as veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford has thrown just four touchdown passes to five interceptions already this season. I’m not saying that the guy is a bum, simply that he is streakish and right now the is stringing together a bunch of interception-riddled games.

Despite some promising signs that the Rams are trying to get the running game established, I don’t think it happens in this one. I will say that the Rams will win this one, but it could be by the narrowest of margins. And I don’t have a feel that defenses rule in this one either, so take the over.

We will publish a full Rams breakdown following this article.

Take the Rams on the Moneyline (-190) to win outright
Take the OVER at 48.5 (-110) in this one

Whether or not you place a bet, you will undoubtedly be in for a thriller in this one

Weather Conditions

There is home field advantage, and then there is the home field advantage created by playing a football game fully padded in 103-degree desert heat. That is about as rough as it gets. The Arizona Cardinals typically play very competitive football early, but when the weather cools off later in the season, so do they.
