The LA Rams knew that getting to Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was vital to ensure that their injury-depleted secondary stood a chance of keeping up with the Cardinals’ offense. Well, the Rams did exactly that.

The Rams’ defense got to dual-threat quarterback Kyler Murray for two quarterback sacks. One sack allowed LA Rams All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald to reach a huge milestone, his 100th career quarterback sack. And by doing so in just his 130th game, he becomes the fastest defensive tackle in NFL history to achieve such a prestigious landmark.

In terms of the NFL All-Time Career Quarterback sack leaders, Aaron Donald has quite a long way to go. He is currently tied at 59th on the sack leaders list with Detroit Lions great Alex Karras and New England Patriots great Andre Tippett. But if he continues to bring down opposing quarterbacks at his current pace, he could be among the Top 40 sack leaders before the end of this year.

Just playin’

You might think that achieving such a monumental NFL landmark would trigger Donald to offer some profound insight about the moment or to share a long speech about the NFL and the legends of the sport who came before him. Perhaps he would allow a brief glance into how he manages to perform at such a high level, despite routinely facing double, triple, and quadruple blockers to stop him?

So, what was Aaron Donald’s reaction?

In the end, he was just playing the sport he loves and performing at a level that only he can.

As far as the Rams franchise? Aaron Donald is currently the third-ranked Rams All-Time Career Quarterback Sack Leader. Unlike the NFL leader board, Donald will need to perform at a high level over several years to ascend any higher. Deacon Jones holds the top spot with 159.5 quarterback sacks, while Jack Youngblood comes in at number two with 151.5 quarterback sacks.

How many additional seasons of play might it take for Aaron Donald to get to 160 quarterback sacks? If he stays on at the same pace, he could cross that milestone at the end of his 13th NFL season, which when considering 2022 as his ninth season, would occur in the 2026 NFL season.

Will he still be playing then? That’s a great question. He is three games and two quarterback sacks into the 2022 NFL Season. Let’s see how this one turns out.
