If you thought that the LA Rams offense could be jumpstarted with the re-signing of free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr, you were probably on the right track. But with the onslaught of injuries and a bankroll that had already been depleted from gold bullion to the piggy bank from extending so many veterans from the Super Bowl roster, the LA Rams are a bit tight-fisted.

What do I mean? Curiously, the LA Rams are separated between the haves and the have-nots. We know who the haves are on the Rams roster: DT Aaron Donald, WR Cooper Kupp, QB Matthew Stafford, and DB Jalen Ramsey.

The Rams must offset their highest-paid players by limiting their payroll expense to other players and positional groups. So when it comes to meeting the salary expectations of other players, the Rams have become quite creative with their compensation package.

Right now, free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is on the wrong side of the LA Rams roster, and it seems that the team has not made an offer whatsoever, or not one that is considered in the ballpark of paying OBJ what he believes is his market value:

We know that the fit between Odell Beckham Jr. and the LA Rams’ offensive game planning was ideal. I mean, the guy arrived mid-season after being all but run out of town by the Cleveland Browns in 2021.

As soon as he arrived, he was forced into service in the LA Rams offense because the team’s wide receiver group was decimated by injuries. Fortunately for the Rams, OBJ quickly mastered the offense to the point where he would likely have been the MVP of Super Bowl LVI if not for a first-half ACL injury. At that moment, he fell from the highest of competitive heights to the lowest of competitive lows.
