The LA Rams roster is rapidly getting healthy. Well, healthy and restored, as the team will soon welcome back WR Van Jefferson and DB Troy Hill, as both have been designated to return from Injured Reserve. They will join offensive center Brian Allen (knee), DT Bobby Brown III (suspension), and ILB Travin Howard (PS, designated to return).
The news of the Rams players coming back to the active roster was released several days ago. The Rams roster will need to clear two roster spots to allow for the restoration of both Van Jefferson and Troy Hill to the active roster.
The Rams cleared their second roster spot by waiving center Jeremiah Kolone. But that made room for two players. Things come at you fast in the NFL, and that is particularly true for the LA Rams this season. What do I mean? Just a day after the Rams cleared roster spots for two players, the Rams will be at it again.
The Rams need open roster spots
The Rams will need to clear two more roster spots to make room for Kyren Williams and Quentin Lake:
To clarify, the LA Rams have a 21-day window to coach up players returning from Injured Reserve and clear roster space for those players. Perhaps more importantly, the Rams must be conservative in doing so. This season, the Rams are limited to activating just eight players from IR to the active roster. With the three players designated to return to the active roster and one to the practice squad, the Rams will exhaust a significant portion of those limited transactions before the team reaches its mid-season mark.
The Rams expect to restore RG Coleman Shelton, OLB Daniel Hardy, LG David Edwards, and DB Jordan Fuller in the coming weeks. How can the Rams navigate the current limits? Well, as soon as the team has designated a player to return, the 21-day window opens. Within that time frame, the team must move the player to the active roster, or the window closes.
To navigate trying to optimize the Rams roster, there will likely be a bit of strategy involved. Who will the Rams activate, and when? Will it be first come, first served? Or will the needs of the team weigh on decisions of who to bring back? That is if the LA Rams offensive line performs well, will the team allow additional time for Edwards or Shelton on IR?
Stay Tuned. NFL Rumors are really heating up before this NFL Trade Deadline. The Rams are expected to make a move of some type.
