SI’s Albert Breer shares shocking insight

The truth is that the contributing factors that lead to an NFL trade taking place are not fixed into a singular image. Rather it is a flowing current that may or may not align correctly for the LA Rams to pull the trigger on a player(s)/pick(s) exchange. So how does a fan stay informed without their head spinning?

Well, Sports Illustrated’s NFL Insider Albert Breer has a solid piece that covers the gamut of what to expect ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline. And he does a pretty good job that covers almost every NFL team:

It’s worth a read, particularly when he covers the LA Rams’ strategy at the NFL Trade Deadline.

"‘The Rams’ radar is, again, up for pass-rush help, and offensive line help, too. But there could be outgoing pieces, as well. Safeties Terrell Burgess and Taylor Rapp, and running back Cam Akers, could be had, and corner David Long is another name to watch.’ – Per SI NFL Insider Albert Breer in his 2022 NFL Trade Deadline Buzz: Tracking Potential Deals, Rumors article"

This one surprised me. Are Terrell Burgess, Taylor Rapp, and David Long Jr. available via trade?

Rams young DBs

The LA Rams drafted a lot of young talented defensive backs this year, anticipating the contract expirations of DB David Long Jr., DB Taylor Rapp, and the backup potential that has yet to come to fruition for DB Terrell Burgess. Plop those names alongside RB Cam Akers, and suddenly the LA Rams are the one-stop shop for NFL contender-wannabes who need help in the secondary.

The Rams are currently enjoying the play of rookie DBs Cobie Durant, and Derion Kendrick, and hope to see the play of rookie DBs Russ Yeast and Quentin Lake as well. Unlike many teams, the LA Rams have been quite successful at finding quality defensive backs in the NFL Draft. Four new defensive backs, all of whom are pushing for playing time, have quite an effect on the Rams’ active roster.

If Albert Breer is correct, and the Rams do have David Long Jr. and Taylor Rapp on the trading block, then speculatively, the Rams could have quite a roster makeover in store at the NFL Trade deadline. So who are the Rams interested in acquiring?
