The LA Rams know that to get to the top of the NFC West, this team has to defeat NFC West Division opponents. So far, the Rams are batting .500 in that department, as the team has stuck to the script. The Rams have beaten the Arizona Cardinals but lost to the San Francisco 49ers. No surprises there, as the Rams have enjoyed a huge advantage over the Cardinals in recent years, just as the 49ers have enjoyed a huge advantage over the Rams in recent years.

That Niners’ advantage has accounted for a seven regular-season game losing streak for the Rams at the hands of the 49ers. But there are reasons to believe that the Rams have a legitimate shot at halting that streak today.

For starters, the Rams are getting healthier. Multiple players are returning to the Rams’ active roster to suit up for this one. Meanwhile, a number of 49ers players, including several who had outstanding performances to help the 49ers win in Week 4, are out. In fact, with the exception of Game 1, this is arguably the healthiest that the Rams roster has been all season.

LA Rams Injury Report vs 49ers Week 8

Rams

  • RB Cam Akers (Personal) – Out
  • WR Brandon Powell (Ankle) – Questionable

49ers

  • DT Arik Armstead (Foot) – Out
  • WR Deebo Samuel (Hamstring) – Out
  • LB Dre Greenlaw (Calf) – Out
  • FB Kyle Juszczyk (Finger) – Out
  • WR Jauan Jennings (Hamstring) – Questionable
  • DB Jason Verrett (Knee) – Questionable

Despite their 3-4 start to the 2022 NFL season, and their injury report, the San Francisco 49ers have a way of turning folks off the street into NFL stars when the team plays the LA Rams, and you can expect plenty of that in the 2022 NFL season rematch.

But even limping into SoFi Stadium, the 49ers players and fans remain loud, almost too loud. At some point, the Rams will win a regular season game, and this one feels as though it’s as good of a time as any for that to happen.

The Rams will likely face a lot of 49ers’ new RB Christian McCaffrey. Without WR Deebo Samuel, the 49ers’ offensive game plan will likely involve a steady diet of rushes by CMC, as well as short ball-control passing to TE George Kittle and WR Brandon Aiyuk.  If the Rams can control the 49ers’ rushing attack they will have a chance in this one.

The Rams will counter with an offense that has WR Van Jefferson suited up for his 2022 NFL Season debut. But don’t rule out the Rams rushing in this one, as the team attempted just 18 runs in the first matchup. The Rams will try to optimize the rotation of RB Malcolm Brown, Darrell Henderson Jr., and PS RB Ronnie Rivers.

As far as their passing offense, while the 49ers will focus on WR Cooper Kupp and Van Jefferson, the Rams could thwart that by keying on WR Allen Robinson in this one.

  • Rams N/A

Over/Under – 42.0 points

Recommended Bets:

This is the 49ers, so the Rams are never going to be a good bet. But the odds opened this week with the 49ers as 2.5-point favorites, and that has fallen to a pick’em game. So there is no money line for this one

I feel as though I may be shirking my duties in this one, but nothing feels like a solid wager. But if you must make a bet, here are my very tepid takes:

Take the Rams to win  (-0, -110)
Take the over at 42.0 (-110) in this one
National broadcast: FOX Sports

Whether or not you place a bet, you will want to take note of this game. If the Rams win, they could be very active before the NFL Trade Deadline. However, if the team loses, Sports Illustrated’s NFL Insider Albert Breer reports that the Rams are rumored to be willing to trade away several defensive backs as well as running back Cam Akers.

The weather at SoFi Stadium for this one is another great day for football. The temperature at kickoff will hover on or about 76 degrees with sunny skies and light winds out of the West/Southwest. Temperatures will steadily drop throughout the game and will fall to a pleasant 70 degrees by the time of the commute home.
