The LA Rams (3-4) are below .500 for the third time in head coach Sean McVay’s NFL career as head coach of the LA Rams. Unfortunately, all three occasions have occured this season, and two have come as a result of the aftermath of losing to the San Francisco 49ers. I don’t think it’s an overstatement to claim that the Rams are desperate for a win.

This week’s opponent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-5), is even more desperate for a victory. And their chances are just as formidable. While the Buccaneers are home on the East Coast for this one, they have their own losing streak to contend with. Ever since signing now-46-year-old quarterback Tom Brady to lead the team, the Buccaneers have not beaten the LA Rams in the past two seasons.

One of those games occured in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs last year, a loss from which the Buccaneers have shown no signs of recovering from.

Despite starting this season with success, the Buccaneers are in a bit of free fall right now, losing five of their last six games. Despite their current losing streak and the Rams’ current winning streak against the Bucs, many expect the Buccaneers to prevail in this one.

LA Rams Injury Report vs Bucs Week 9

Rams

  • LA Jacob Hummel (Hip) – Out
  • WR Van Jefferson (Knee) – Questionable
  • C Brian Allen (knee) – Questionable

Bucs

  • TE Cameron Brate (Neck) – Out
  • WR Russell Gage Jr. (Hamstring) – Out
  • OG Luke Goedeke (foot) – Out
  • S Antoine Winfield (Concussion) – Out
  • DT Akiem Hicks (Foot) – Questionable
  • DB Sean Murphy-Bunting (Quadricep) – Questionable
  • DB Carlton Davis (hip) – Questionable

Despite their 3-5 start to the 2022 NFL season, and their injury report, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to get stellar production from Brady. He remains one of the top passers in the NFL, launching the football for 2,267 yards, nine touchdowns, and just one interception.

The Rams will counter with an offense that has WR Van Jefferson returning for the 2022 NFL season.  He will line up with WR Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson, Ben Skowronek, Tutu Atwell, and even Brandon Powell.  The Rams will also try to find daylight on the ground with the rotation of RB Malcolm Brown, Darrell Henderson Jr., Cam Akers, and PS RB Ronnie Rivers.

As far as their passing offense, the Bucs will focus on WR Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. But with the retirement of tight end Rob Gronkowski, the Buccaneers’ offense, much like the Rams offense, is more statistics than substance this season

Recommended Bets:

Can there be one game that the Rams play that feels like a win? The Rams have been so inconsistent this season that this game could go either way, and that negates any reason to put down a wager. But if you must make a bet, here are my very tepid takes:

Take the Rams to cover in this one  (+3.0, -110)
Take the under at 42.5 (-110) in this one
National broadcast: 1:25 pm PT on CBS Sports

Whether or not you place a bet, you will want to follow the results of this one. If the Rams win, they return to .500 and could be in a position to rally this season. However, if the team loses, the Rams will find it quite difficult to win nine or more games this season.

Of course, the same is true of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So it comes down to which team wants this one more.
