LA Rams Free Agency list for QBs

The LA Rams should know the type of quarterback that they are seeking before any player is signed. For starters, the Rams’ recent tsunami of injuries suggests that the team would be wise to focus on someone who is tall, muscular, and durable. Once that box is checked, mobility to avoid a pass rush would be an ideal trait as well. Then the typical qualities of a quarterback that includes leadership, arm strength, and accuracy come into play.

But the Rams are shopping from bare shelves right now. In terms of premium NFL quality quarterbacks, there are few who are seeking a role that will do much to spark any hope or optimism from the fans.

Rams Free Agency: Option III

University of Nevada QB: Carson Strong was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles after the 2022 NFL Draft. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 215 pounds, Strong has all the talent of an NFL quarterback, but he suffered a knee injury in high school that required surgery, and that was enough to flag his draft profile.

Originally projected to hear his name called as early as Day 2, Strong had to be disappointed when he did not get drafted.  He wowed scouts with his ‘killer instinct,’ and was described as the quarterback with the best arm in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was also of high character, honored as the team captain in his last year. He has great accuracy and a powerful arm.

He signed on with the Philadephia Eagles after the draft but did not have many opportunities behind Jalen Hurts, Gardner Minshew, and XFL quarterback Reid Sinnett. In two preseason game appearances for the Eagles, Strong completed one of four passes for six yards, and he scrambled twice for a loss of two yards.

Strong may not have wowed the Eagles, but the talent is most certainly there. He has great pocket presence, a cannon for an arm, and can throw from almost any angle. If there is a young quarterback who could develop rapidly by working with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, Carson Strong could be that guy.
