So many things could’ve gone wrong, but didn’t
Now, imagine if this did not happen. Would the Rams have been able to get him to Los Angeles quickly enough to get him even a basic walkthrough? If he had not booked his flight, would he have seen any offensive snaps on Thursday Night Football?
That’s one heckuva schedule for a quarterback who is well-versed with an NFL team’s roster, coaching staff, and playbook. But that was certainly not the case for Baker Mayfield.
Destiny has arrived
The chemistry is confirmed. The fit is fantastic. This miraculous victory in front of a nationally televised NFL audience has so many points that could have derailed everything. And yet, the story today is:
Franchise quarterback? That is up to each reader to decide for himself. What will the LA Rams and Baker Mayfield’s relationship be at the end of this season? Will Mayfield show interest in getting the most money possible? Or will he be content with signing on as the backup quarterback for starting veteran Matthew Stafford, knowing that if and when Stafford walks away from the game, the keys will be handed over to him?
For now, the LA Rams have some buzz once more. And while it could lead to bigger and better things, for now, it’s a matter of enjoying the Mayfield Miracle on Stadium Drive. After all, it now feels as though everything else is capable of sorting itself out.
