Can LA Rams new QB Baker Mayfield lead team rest of the way?

Four more games
Who is left on the LA Rams’ schedule? The LA Rams (4-9) face the struggling Green Bay Packers (5-8) at Lambeau Field on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 5:15 pm PT. The team then returns home for their final home game to face the Denver Broncos (3-10) on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022, at 1:30 pm PT. The Rams then ‘travel’ to face their crosstown competition, the LA Chargers (7-6), on Sunday Night Football on January 1st, 2023, at 5:20 pm PT. The Rams then end their season by traveling to Seattle to face the Seahawks (7-6) at a time that has yet to be determined.
Four games left, and all against teams with a combined 22-30 record. In any of the past five seasons, the expectation for the Rams to win out would not be unheard of. But with the LA Rams boasting four wins, claiming two victories out of the last four games may be a bit optimistic. But let’s talk about a two-win two-loss finish for the LA Rams.
The LA Rams schedule feels less hopeless now
Before the arrival of Mayfield, the LA Rams had just three victories. In the scenario described above, with two more wins, the Rams would double their win total behind a quarterback that all but the Rams had ruled as ineffective, immature, and unable to make the big throws.
Winning games for the Rams with a battered offensive line, without the team’s top two receivers, and with a defense that fans have called trash practically all season (it’s not, btw). Of course, part of Mayfield’s success is the fact that the Rams playbook against the Raiders was the equivalent of a “Rams offense for dummies,’ version that simplified plays and options.
But over the course of the next four games, Mayfield’s comprehension of the Rams offense will increase substantially, as will the number of options available to him.
