The LA Rams will ‘travel’ to face the LA Chargers this season. I use air quotes because the Rams will play in their familiar home, SoFi Stadium. It’s simply a quirk of the NFL and the Rams’ schedule this season, as both teams alternately compete from the same football field. It just so happens that the Rams face the AFC West Division teams this season, and the Chargers, not the Rams were declared to be the home team in Week 17.

The LA Rams have been getting hot of late. And it’s nearly impossible to ignore the 50+ point outburst by this team last week. That was a result of the LA Rams finally discovering just how healing and forgiving a rushing attack can prove to be for this offense. The Rams put up 158 yards and three touchdowns on the ground against the Denver Broncos defense, now the 16th-ranked run defense in the NFL (they were much higher ranked before facing the Rams).

Now these same LA Rams face the LA Chargers, a team that is the 26th-ranked rushing attack in the NFL. Typically, that meant that the Rams would throw 50+ times in this one. But I don’t think that is the case this week.

LA Rams Injury Report vs Chargers Week 17

The Rams roster has been fighting a constant battle all season to restock this roster with players to ensure that the team is not only competitive but that this team sustains the number of healthy players necessary to hold an NFL game without forfeiture. As of today, the LA Rams have 14 key players on injured reserve, none of who are listed on the injury report.

Tough season to play, but the Rams are becoming more and more entertaining. Each week since their Mayfield Miracle, the Rams roster gives center stage to a new young player. Who will shine for the Rams this week? Stay tuned.

Rams

  • DT Aaron Donald (Ankle) – Out
  • C Brian Allen (Calf) – Out
  • QB John Wolford (Neck) – Out
  • WR Ben Skowronek (Calf) – Out
  • TE Tyler Higbee (Elbow) – Questionable
  • OLB Leonard Floyd (TBD) – Questionable

Chargers

  • S Derwin James (Concussion) – Out
  • RB Zander Horvath (Ankle) – Questionable

The LA Rams offense is finally starting to get some traction, however, as all of the new faces have begun to play in consecutive weeks. That has this team on a mini-winning streak, claiming victories in two of their last three games. That’s because the LA Rams are no longer playing like NASA engineers. This is a group of blue-collar dock workers now, players with callouses on their hands and who are not afraid to get down and dirty.

Right now, the players on this time are simply fighting to keep playing the game that they love. And they want to earn some respect in the process.

The LA Rams face a Chargers team that has guaranteed a playoff berth. But this team continues to be motivated, as the fifth-seed travels to face the winner of the AFC South Division, and right now that appears to be a very beatable Jacksonville Jaguars team.

The LA Rams’ final game of the 2022 NFL season is up next

The LA Rams (5-10) will next travel to the frozen tundra to face their NFC West Division rivals, the Seattle Seahawks, on Sunday, January 8, 2023. No time has been set for that game because if the Seahawks remain in contention for a playoff berth, the NFL will schedule all NFL teams vying for that playoff spot simultaneously to ensure no team has the advantage of knowing the outcome of their playoff hopes before gametime.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers (9-6) will travel to take on the Denver Broncos in their season finale on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at a time that has yet to be determined. After all, the Chargers are still vying for their own seeding in the upcoming NFL playoffs.
